Raquel is now 7. It was a blazing hot day. Literally the hottest day I have ever experienced in my life, breaking records at 115 degrees. We tackled the insane heat and went to see Despicable Me. Raquel, Elena, and I were the only ones in the theater at 12:15pm--who else would be crazy enough to go out with roasting weather like that? She requested having hamburgers for dinner and we went to In-N-Out. We ended the day by having her open presents and eating cake.
I love this little lady. I learn from her every day. I feel humbled and honored to be lucky enough to be her mom. I think I've said this before...I always knew I would love my kids, but I'm frequently surprised with how much I enjoy being with them. And when I say that I'm not talking about the overall joy of being a mom, I'm talking about really liking them for them...in the sense that if they were my age I would totally call them up to hang out and spend time with them. How fortunate I am to have such a friend for life.

I realized while doing this post that tomorrow is my one year blogger-world anniversary. I have a love/hate relationship with blogging. I am always glad after the post is up, it has provided an incentive to take more pictures, and it has been therapeutic. Plus I've always been a bad journal-keeper/scrap-booker so having a blog has taken away some of that guilt. But, it takes time, sometimes a lot of time, and if I get behind I feel like just quitting all together. Nonetheless, the pros (for now) out weigh the cons. So here goes another year of blogging.

Happy Birthday!! She's adorable!
I remember you comforting me once about my relationship with my own children. Remember? We were in my home in Provo, you were my VT still, I think. (btw, that was too short...I was sad when you were replaced...). Hannah was only 3 (or 2???), I think, and going through some "rebellious" stage. I so wanted to be the person she needed me to be and I still remmber your wise words and they came to pass. We need to be patient as Moms and love them.
I feel Hannah (and the rest of the children actually) and I have now the kind of relationship you are talking about in this post and it is so rewarding! I love it!
I always felt that way with Raquel...I have always enjoyed her...she is WONDERFUL! And she will be my friend for life as well, I hope, if she allows me.
We miss you and love you so much!
