Fall Break

We took a 10 day hiatus to Utah.
We stayed at my parents and ate amazing food.
We went to the circus.
We celebrated Raquel's birthday.
I was given a shower for this baby boy.
We enjoyed General Conference.
We got together with siblings for games and wonderful meals.
And the girls played and played with cousins they had so missed.

Circus Highlights

The Party
I gave Mike the assignment of being in charge of games.
He had these girls running, jumping, and laughing.
Raquel told us that it was the best party EVER.
And that's what we were looking for.

The entire Ruiz clan

You can always count on Raquel for a good reaction.

The Shower
The wonderful women who planned, came, played, and gave me awesome baby-boy gifts.
Thank you!!!

We had a fabulous time and 10 days went by way too fast!!

End of Summer

Labor day to me has always represented the official end of summer, and this year has been no exception; Raquel is well into school, Mike is into his 3rd week of cardiothoracic surgery, and I have gone back to my regular work schedule.  I've been meaning to post some of our end of summer activities for some time, but time just wasn't cooperating, so although late, here they are.

The last week in August we took a quick--but action packed--trip to Utah before summer came to an end.  Here are a few of the highlights.

Bowling.  After seeing the neon lights at the alley stating that it was America's favorite past time, Mike declared that he had missed out on that memo.  So on a whim we called up the family and had them meet us at Fat Cats.  I had not done this since my single dating days and I was reminded of my lack of talent, regardless the girls loved it and next time I may just have to join them in having the side bumpers go up during my turn.

Deer Creek Reservoir.  In lieu of a family camp out, my sister suggested that this year we rent a couple of jet ski and spend a day at the lake.  This was sooo fun that I think it will have to become a yearly summer-must.

Children's Museum at the Gateway.  Had it been up to the girls they would have spent the entire day here.

Family Picture Session.  We got the whole Ruiz Family Clan together for pictures.  Here are all of the grand kids.  Yes.  It is dominated by little ladies...

...in part thanks to us.

There were many many pictures taken and I would post more, but I've been meaning to get this post up for over 2 weeks..so this will have to do for now.  Plus, with so many people, it is hard to get a shot where everyone looks "good".  Especially when you have Elena in the picture...

See what I mean.

A Quarter of the Way Through!

Mike successfully finished his first semester of PA school.  We took advantage of his 2 week break to visit my family for Christmas.  I must really love them; we left nice warm 78 degree weather in California and drove 10 hours to come to very very cold Utah.
Since part of the family will be gone for Christmas Eve (the night we usually get together to celebrate), we had an early get-together yesterday.

The girls were very excited to see their cousins.  We took two of them home after the festivities for a sleep-over with Raquel.  Here they are on the drive home.
Girls. Giggles. Crazy Faces. Squeals. Roars. Silliness. Friendship. Good Times.
