I did it when I was a kid. Just about everyone I know with kids has experienced it.
Why I thought I would be immune to it, with three girls, is a good question.
This was taken after my attempts at repairing it.
As soon as she realized we had discovered the damage, regret filled her little heart.
Without saying a word she watched from the closet
as she was unduly reprimanded, alone. That was my first clue--she was alone.
Normally she would be at close proximity, pulling up a chair to watch the show.
It was at that moment that we realized we had gotten it all wrong
and asked the question we should have started with,
"Elena, who cut your hair?"
Through teary eyes she replied, "Raquel."
We scanned the room and saw her peeking out from behind the closet.
With Raquel, you don't really have to say or do anything else.
She hasn't wanted to talk about it.
The details of why she did it are no longer important to her.
She would rather we just forget and never bring it up again.
We did ground her from playing video games for the next 2 weeks.
Probably an overkill for her.
But, good things have come of it...
Taken 2 weeks ago (before the incident).
I know. I'm not exactly proud of this picture.
Taken a few days after the incident.
So, no long term damage done.
Hair will grow back.
And we are becoming more literate.
